Huntsville Area USTA Jr. Team Tennis will have its Spring league March 27 – May 1, 2009
USTA Jr. Team Tennis will be 6 week program of recreational match play at Huntsville Tennis Center for boys and girls, ages 8 to 14, who want to play tennis on teams based on school zones/neighborhoods. In USTA Team Tennis, the team concept emphasizes fun, fitness and friends.
Teams ideally consist of a minimum of 6 players, 3 boys and 3 girls. The teams compete against other teams in one of two intermediate divisions: 12 & under, or 14 & under in singles and doubles. Intermediate play is for players who can rally and serve the ball. Match play will be Fridays 4 – 5:30.
Scholarships: Scholarships are available from HATA (Huntsville Area Tennis Association) to cover fees and/or racket expenses. For additional information on scholarships, contact Irene at irenewisner@comcast.net or 539-2557, or download form from HATA website, hata_junior_scholarship_form.

Volunteers for Spring Break Tennis needed
Last year, nearly 300 children attended, many of whom have never been introduced to the game. With such enthusiastic participation from the kids, we need volunteers to help with registration, to be lead teachers, to be support teachers, and to provide other administrative and supervisory help. High school tennis players who need service hours welcome. Linda Baumbach is coordinating volunteers, so if you can help for a single 2-hour session or all four sessions or in any capacity, please contact Linda with details on your availability.
