A Note to Mixed Captains from Jeff Burns
April 28th, 2008 · No Comments
UPDATE
Captains,
The organizational meeting for the 2008 USTA Mixed Doubles League will be held this Thursday night, 6:00, at HTC.
Please pass this along to those that might be interested in playing mixed doubles this summer.
Thanks.
Jeff
Captains,
Mixed Doubles registration is now open in TennisLink.
I am trying to arrange the captain’s meeting for Thursday May 1 at HTC. I am not sure if the meeting room is available to us. I will send something out Monday night confirming the date and time of the meeting.
If you are not planning on having a team this season, please let your players know to give them the opportunity to find another team. I have several new captains forming teams and should be able to help them. If any of you need players, please let me know. I need to know the gender and levels of players that you might be looking for. We already have nine 7.0 teams signed up and I am pretty confident that we will have at least three more.
Initial rosters (with three eligible mixed doubles pairs) are due on TLink by May 7. Roster additions can be made until July 2.
I hope to have the mixed season underway by mid May and we will play through most if not all of July.
Please poll your team about the third set tiebreak or three complete sets vote, by level, if that is what you all want. I expect to have the 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 levels play between 15 and 20 matches. The 7.0’s might be more if it keeps growing and you all want the double round robin. This is a lot of tennis and something to consider when thinking about the third set vote.
Please let me know if you have questions or if I can assist you. Also, please send any unattached players that contact you, to me. I will try to help them get on a team.
Thanks for all that you do for the tennis players in Huntsville.
Jeff
